Office of Public Guardian

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

Public Guardianship Act is codified and can be found under Neb. Rev. Stat. Sections 30-4101 to 30-4118, and may be cited as the Public Guardianship Act. The Act becomes operative on January 1, 2015.

The law creates an Office of Public Guardian and an Advisory Council on Public Guardianship.

Office of Public Guardian in the State of Nebraska will be under the jurisdiction of the Nebraska State Court Administrator. A Director of the Office of Public Guardian, a deputy public guardian, and up to twelve associate guardians are allowed through the Act. The process will be expedited, as much as is practical, to allow operation of the office during calendar year 2015.

The office will provide education, training, and support to current and future guardians and conservators throughout the State of Nebraska.

And, although Nebraska will need to continue to rely on volunteers to assist the elderly and others in need of guardianship, the Office will serve as a means of last resort as guardian or conservator for those situations where no family member or suitable individual is available.

Employment announcements will be posted on the State of Nebraska Employment site and this website under the Employment link.: http://supremecourt.ne.gov/employment.
