LINCOLN -- According to Supreme Court Justice Lindsey Miller-Lerman, the Judicial Nominating Commission for County Judge in the 8th Judicial District (consisting of Blaine, Boyd, Brown, Cherry, Custer, Garfield, Greeley, Holt, Howard, Keya Paha, Loup, Rock, Sherman, Valley, and Wheeler Counties) will hold a public hearing in the District Courtroom at the Custer County Courthouse located in Broken Bow, Nebraska, beginning at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2012. The primary place of office for the judicial vacancy is Broken Bow. At the hearing, the Commission will receive information on the qualifications of candidates to fill the vacancy in the office of County Judge due to the retirement of Judge Gary G. Washburn. The public is welcome to attend the hearing and present information concerning candidates for the judicial opening. Persons, if any, wishing to publicly comment favorably on qualifications should attempt to co-ordinate with the candidates. Public comments, if any, in opposition to candidates will be received at the hearing.
Individuals interested in applying for the position must do so on an approved form available through the Chairperson of the Commission or the Office of the State Court Administrator, P.O. Box 98910, Lincoln, NE 68509. The application form may also be printed from the Nebraska Judicial Branch Web site at www.supremecourt.ne.gov/forms/supreme-court-judicial-vacancy.shtml. Completed applications must be received no later than 5:00 p.m., Thursday, June 21, 2012, by Chairperson Justice Miller-Lerman, at the above-stated address or delivered to the office of the Clerk of the Supreme Court, Room 2413, State Capitol.
