Five Submit their Names for Supreme Court Justice, Third Judicial District
LINCOLN – Hon. William B. Cassel, O’Neill; Francie C. Riedmann, Omaha; Hon. John E. Samson, Blair; Hon. Kenneth J. Vampola, Arlington; and Margaret M. Zarbano, Omaha, have submitted applications for appointment as Supreme Court Justice in the 3rd Judicial District. The vacancy is due to the resignation of Justice John M. Gerrard who was appointed to the U.S. District Court for the District of Nebraska. The Third Judicial District consists of Antelope, Boone, Boyd, Burt, Cedar, Cuming, Dakota, Dixon, Dodge, Holt, Knox, Madison, Pierce, Platte, Stanton, Thurston, Washington, Wayne, and Wheeler Counties, in addition to portions of Douglas and Sarpy Counties.
The public hearing of the Judicial Nominating Commission will be held in the County Boardroom of the Dodge County Courthouse in Fremont, Nebraska, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2012. The Commission will review all applicants for the office at that time. The public is welcome to attend the hearing and present information concerning candidates for the judicial opening.
