LINCOLN -- According to Supreme Court Justice Lindsey Miller-Lerman, the Judicial Nominating Commission for County Judge in the 5th Judicial District (consisting of Boone, Butler, Colfax, Hamilton, Merrick, Nance, Platte, Polk, Saunders, Seward and York Counties) will hold a public hearing in the County Court Courtroom, Saunders County Law Enforcement and Judicial Center, 387 N. Chestnut St., Wahoo, Nebraska, beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 21, 2013. The primary place of office for the judicial vacancy will be either Seward, Seward County, Nebraska, or Wahoo, Saunders County, Nebraska. At the hearing, the Commission will receive information on the qualifications of candidates to fill the vacancy in the office of County Judge due to the retirement of the Honorable Gerald E. Rouse.
The public is welcome to attend the hearing and present information concerning candidates for the judicial opening. Persons, if any, wishing to publicly comment favorably on qualifications should attempt to co-ordinate with the candidates. Public comments, if any, in opposition to candidates will be received at the hearing. Individuals interested in applying for the position can obtain a Judicial Vacancy Application package from the Nebraska Judicial Branch Web site at http://supremecourt.ne.gov/5014/judicial-vacancies-and-judicial-nominating-commission-information. Completed applications may be submitted electronically or by hard copy and must be returned no later than 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 30, 2013.
