The Lincoln County Court is accepting applications for the position of Bailiff/Courtroom Clerk. This position is responsible and varied clerical work in liaison with the judges, the court clerk’s office and courtroom sessions. Work involves performing courtroom clerical duties including operating the digital recorder and relieving judges of routine administrative duties. A bailiff oversees and assists in the preparation of records and documents for each court session; acts as liaison for the judge with attorneys, court personnel and the public, escorts defendants and transports documents to the clerk’s office; and performs a variety of confidential, technical and general clerical tasks for the judges. Requirements include education or experience sufficient to enable an individual to perform the duties and meet the knowledge, skills and abilities required including knowledge of legal terminology; knowledge of court procedure; knowledge of business English, spelling and punctuation; knowledge of office practices, equipment, and computer usage; and the ability to understand and carry out moderately complex oral and written instructions. Successful completion of on the job training in the use of JUSTICE (the statewide court computer system) will be required. The ability to speak Spanish is desired but not required.
