Deputy Probation Administrator for the Nebraska Supreme Court Office of Probation Administration, Steve Rowoldt, will be presented with the 2013 Alumni Award for Excellence in Public Service from the University of Nebraska’s College of Public Affairs and Community Service next month.
As stated by the College of Public Affairs, “Individuals honored with the alumni award demonstrate, through both their daily deeds and greatest achievements, the finest attributes of public and community service: integrity, stewardship, volunteerism, leadership, and a commitment to social justice and human dignity. They are a credit to their professions, their families, and the University of Nebraska.”
Rowoldt oversees both the personnel and the information technology functions of the Nebraska statewide probation system. He has a long distinguished career in probation that spans from 1974 to the present where he advanced from Probation Officer to Chief Deputy Probation Officer and currently serves probation administration.
Encompassed within his tenure, Rowoldt has received awards for meritorious service and leadership. He has also dedicated numerous hours of professional and personal time serving on community boards and committees including Mothers Against Drunk Drivers, Lincoln Council on Alcoholism and Drugs, Lancaster County Substance Abuse Action Team, Family Violence Council, and most recently, the Justice Behavioral Health Committee where he has served as co-chair since 2006.
Rowoldt graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice in 1974. He also received a certification in Management for the University of Nebraska – Lincoln in 2002.
In 2008, Nebraska Supreme Court Statewide Drug Court Coordinator Scott A. Carlson received the College of Public Affairs for Excellence in Public Service for his leadership as statewide coordinator for problem-solving courts for the Nebraska Supreme Court administrative offices.
Judges who have received the Alumni Award in years past include: Judge John Colborn, Lincoln; Judge Terri Harder, Minden; Judge Patricia Lamberty, Ret, Omaha.
