Attorneys: Matt Catlett (Law Office of Matt Catlett for Appellant) and Robert E. Caples (Lincoln City Prosecutor)

Criminal: Assault, Speedy Trial, and Absolute Discharge

Proceedings below: After being charged with violating the Lincoln Municipal Code for assault, Appellant filed a Motion for Absolute Discharge, which the county court overruled.  On further appeal to the district court, the district court affirmed the decision from the county court.  Appellant filed a Petition Bypass the Court of Appeals, which the Supreme Court sustained and transferred this case to its docket.

Issues:  Appellant makes the following assignments of error:  1) The district court erred in affirming the county court’s denial of Williams’ motion for absolute discharge of count 1; and 2) The district court erred in finding no error in the county court’s receipt of Exhibit 2.
