Origin: Neb. Rev. Statute §29-2640;  ARTICLE IV;  Interstate Compact for Adult Offender Supervision whereby the Governor authorized executing a compact on behalf of Nebraska.  

Terms:  Four-years (may serve consecutive terms). Appointments are made by the Governor unless otherwise noted.

Purpose Statement:  The Interstate Compact for Adult Offender Supervision provides the framework for the promotion of public safety; to protect the rights of victims through the control and regulation of the movement of offenders in the community and to provide for tracking, supervision, and the sending and receiving of offenders among the compacting states.  The compact created an Interstate Commission which established such uniform procedures to manage the movement between states of adults placed under community supervision and released to the community under the jurisdiction of the courts, paroling authorities, or other criminal justice agencies.  The commission ensures an opportunity for input by the victims where offenders are permitted to travel; established a system of uniform data collection; access to information on active cases by authorized officials; and regular reporting of compact activities to the heads of the State Councils, Executive Legislative and Judicial branches.
