Nebraska Chief Justice to Give State of the Judiciary Address to Legislature January 19, 2012

Wednesday, January 11, 2012

Chief Justice Mike Heavican will give his 5th annual State of the Judiciary address to the Legislature at  10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 19, 2012, in the Legislative Chamber.

NET Television will air the speech on NET2 as part of its regular legislative coverage and the address  can also be viewed online at NET's Web site: http://www.netnebraska.org/publicmedia/capitol.html.

The State of the Judiciary will be archived and available through the Nebraska Judicial Branch Web site. The State of the Judiciary address is given by the Chief Justice at the invitation of the Speaker of the  Legislature, Senator Mike Flood.   Since 2008 this address has become the judiciary’s opportunity to highlight Judicial Branch priorities for the upcoming year and provide relevant information directly to  lawmakers.  Heavican will provide an overview of the activities of the judicial branch of government  including projects involving the state’s 144 judges and over 1,000 non-judicial employees in courthouses  and probation offices across the state.
