A-14-1124, In re Interest of Gavin S. and Jordan S., children under 18 years of age. State of Nebraska v. Lacy S. (Appellant) and Daniel S. (Appellee)

Lancaster County, Separate Juvenile Court Judge Toni Thorson

Attorney for Appellant: Lisa F. Lozano

Attorney for Appellee: Alicia B. Henderson, Joshua L. Christopher (County Attorney's Office)

Attorney for Appellee (Father): Sanford J. Pollack (Pollack & Ball, LLC)

Juvenile Action: Adjudication and Termination of Parental Rights

Action Taken by Trial Court: The juvenile court adjudicated the two minor children to be within the meaning of Neb. Rev. Stat. ' 43-247(3)(a) as to both appellant, Lacy S., and as to appellee, Daniel S. The court also terminated Lacy's and Daniel's parental rights to the children after finding that such termination was warranted pursuant to Neb. Rev. Stat. ' 43-292(7) and (9) and was in the children's best interests.

Assignments of Error on Appeal: On appeal, both Lacy and Daniel challenge certain evidentiary decisions made by the juvenile court during the termination hearing. In addition, they challenge the sufficiency of the evidence to support the adjudication of their children and the termination of their parental rights.
