A-18-301+, City of Beatrice v. Meints (Appellant)

Gage County, District Court Judge Rick Schreiner

Attorney for Appellant:  Terry K Barber (Barber & Barber, P.C., L.L.O.)

Attorney for Appellee:  Abigail M. Stark (Beatrice City Attorney)

Execution Proceedings: The City of Beatrice commenced 21 execution proceedings against the Appellant’s real property to satisfy criminal fines and costs. The Appellant claimed he was entitled to exemptions regarding the properties and filed a motion to quash the executions and the Appellant’s girlfriend filed a motion to intervene.

Action Taken by Trial Court:   The district court denied the Appellant’s exemption claims, motion to quash, and motion to intervene.

Assignments of Error on Appeal:  The Appellant has appealed contending that the district court erred in (1) determining he was not entitled to any statutory exemptions from execution; (2) denying his motion to quash; and (3) denying his girlfriend’s motion to intervene.
