Six Submit their Names for County Court Judge in the Ninth Judicial District

LINCOLN – Matthew C. Boyle, Grady C. Erickson, Martin R. Klein, all of Grand Island; John D. Icenogle, Stacy R. Nonhof, both of Kearney; and Bryan S. McQuay, Alma, have submitted applications for appointment as County Court Judge in the 9th Judicial District consisting of Hall and Buffalo counties. The primary place of office for the judicial vacancy is Grand Island, Hall County, Nebraska. The vacancy was created by amendments to Neb. Rev. Stat. § 24-503 (Laws 2023, LB 799) establishing a fifth county court judge, which office will become effective September 1, 2023.

The public hearing of the Judicial Nominating Commission will be held at the Hall County Courthouse, District Courtroom #2, 111 West First Street, Grand Island, Nebraska, beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 7, 2023. The Commission will interview all applicants for the office at that time. 

Any member of the public wishing to present testimony for the commission’s consideration may do so one of two ways:

  1. Written testimony provided in advance:  Those wishing to present written testimony or other pertinent information may do so by mailing the information to the Commission Chair no later than June 30, 2023, at the following address: Justice Cassel, Nebraska Supreme Court, PO Box 98910, Lincoln, NE 68509 or email it to ashley.jenkins@nebraska.gov.   
  2. Oral testimony offered during the hearing:  Those wishing to present oral testimony may do so by attending the public hearing in District Courtroom #2 of the Hall County Courthouse, Grand Island, Nebraska.
